BEEVILLE – On May 15, the Lady Trojan soccer team recognized the outstanding efforts of their teams at their awards banquet at Stone Creek Grill.

The Lady Trojans were honored to have their parents and special guests, A.C. Jones Principal DeeDee Bernal and school board member Darryl Martin, celebrate the occasion with them.

The evening began with the welcome, introductions and a prayer by Lady Trojan co-captains Emma Downing and Amber de Pau. After the meal, JV coach Tim San Miguel commented on the Lady Trojan JV season and commended the young ladies for their effort. Those recognized at the banquet included Jasmine Del Bosque, Brittani Colunga, Margaret Downing, Alexis Trevino and Maria Gonzales.

Varsity coach Scott Taylor talked briefly about the varsity season, and how impressed he was with the team’s work ethic and their never quit attitude displayed throughout the season. He commented on how hard the young ladies have been working in the offseason to improve for next year.

Those in attendance for the JHS varsity team included: Angelika Benavidez, Angela Cardenas, Brianna Cooley, Sarah De Leon, Amber de Pau, Emma Downing, Mackenzie Harvey, Ali Kroen, Camryn Lofthouse, Julissa Ortiz, Melanie Perez, Clarissa Rincon, Mowdy Sanchez, Keely Taylor, Kennedy Trevino, Joie Wilson and managers Anasty Garcia and Alicia Valdez.

After team recognition, individual awards were presented. The Trojan Leadership Award went to Emma Downing. Mowdy Sanchez was presented the 12th Lady Award. Most Improved Player went to Joie Wilson. The Trojans Fighting Heart Award was presented to Mackenzie Harvey. Keely Taylor was awarded Newcomer of the Year. The Defensive MVP went to Angelika Benavides. The MVP for the 2014 season was given to Amber de Pau.
