Dr. Obregon was born July 7, 1924, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Enrique and Enedina Obregon. He retired practicing medicine in Beeville and Corpus Christi for many years. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church and loved to fish, care for his animals and assist others in his medical practice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Rosemary Obregon; a son, Stephen Obregon; and two brothers, Ricardo Obregon and Guillermo Obregon.
Survivors include his companion of 34 years; Effie Cardona Obregon; children, Mary Helen, Alejandro, Esther, Rosie (David) Riojas and Joseph R. (Nancy) Obregon, all of San Antonio; three sisters, Guadalupe, Magaelena and Maria; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, June 10, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
