Kenedy High School senior, Emily Richter, was nominated, selected and participated in the 2014 All-Area Victoria Senior Softball All-Star game on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Saint Joseph’s “Field of Dreams” Complex in Victoria, Texas.

The All-Area Victoria Senior All-Star game chooses the top 32 girls in the area by high school coaches and is selected by the Victoria Softball Umpire Chapter.

Richter, playing for the Black/Yellow Team was surrounded by 15 other seniors from various schools such as Victoria East, Refugio, Bloomington, Shiner, Yoakum, Saint Joseph - Victoria, Ganado and Sam Nemier from Yorktown.

Richter, playing second base for the Black/Yellow Team played the entire game.

Even though her team lost 5-3 in 8 innings, the game was dominated by several Division 1 pitchers and seniors from the larger schools, Richter made her own contribution to the game by batting second in the lineup, going 1 for 2 with a Sacrifice Bunt, reached on an error, and stole a base.

She also had two assist and no errors. Richter, having played in over 100 high school varsity softball games, finished up her career by tossing her cleats in the trash can as she walked out of the dugout.

Richter will now concentrate on Pole Vaulting as she starts her college career at Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the fall.
