BEEVILLE – With the San Antonio Spurs embroiled in a rematch with the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, Spurs pride is running wild.

The way fans have shown their pride has gotten to their head.

Literally.

“A lot of people are coming in with (Spurs requests),” said barber Donny Reason, who works at Thee Fine Line barbershop. “It’s called a freestyle design, which is whatever you want, but make it look cool.”

Rick Salazar came in with a unique 3-D Spurs design, and Reason quickly went to work.

“He just came in with the idea, so I had to do it,” Reason said. “I thought it came out pretty cool. Some people will hopefully like it.”

Reason first attended barber school and enjoyed it. He was never the artsy kind of guy, but he slowly developed a knack for it.

Now, he’s one of the go-to guys for the job.

Along with the Spurs logo, Reason has crafted other Texas teams into customers’ heads, including the Houston Oilers and Houston Texans.

“I’ve done a lot of different types of stuff,” Reason said. “Whenever they come in, I kind of try to relate to them and add my own little twist on it.”
