Guests were welcomed to the annual event held at the Kenedy City Hall Auditorium with a theme of “Building a better community.”
The award for Citizen of the Year was presented to Farris Overby, who has been very active in many community activities including the beautification of the City of Kenedy.
The award for Business of the Year was presented to the Kenedy Volunteer Fire Department in recognition of the department’s service to the community.
The award for Tourism of the Year was presented to the City of Kenedy in recognition of the city’s ongoing work to promote continued tourism efforts.
The Kenedy Chamber of Commerce has as its mission to serve the members of the organization, promoting economic and business development that will enhance the regional area.
In addition, the chamber serves as a communication link for tourism and information.
Efforts include recruitment of new members and their participation which is a major focus.
The Kenedy Chamber of Commerce’s primary goal is to develop a supportive and cooperative spirit for all efforts that enhance the statewide visibility of the Kenedy area.
