Ms. Mata was born Jan. 22, 1978, in Beeville to Luis and Lillie (DeLaCruz) Mata. She worked as a waitress at Taqueria Chapala Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Nicanor Mata; maternal grandparents, Pedro and Leonora DeLaCruz; two uncles, David Soto Rodriguez and Carlos Mata; and one aunt, Linda Moreno.
Survivors include her companion, Rosendo “Chendo” Casas; two sons, Luis Mata and Cody Mata of Beeville; four daughters, Selena Moreno, Esmeralda Tapia, Marivel Tapia and Nayelly Moreno of Beeville; one granddaughter, Aubree Martinez; her parents, Luis and Lillie Mata of Beeville; two sisters, Elizabeth Garcia of Mexico and Lydia Mata of Beeville; a brother, Oscar Franco of Beeville; paternal grandmother, Maria Mata of Beeville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at Treviño Funeral Home Tuesday, July 1, from 1 to 9 p.m. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m. with Father Luke Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory #2 Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Moreno, Joel Barron, Oscar Franco, Jody Ojeda, Elmo Cuevas and John “Sapo” Gutierrez.
