Patsy Carpenter Schmedt, 83, of Mathis, formerly of Beeville, died Friday, June 27, 2014.

Mrs. Schmedt was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Beeville to Robert and Ernestine Carpenter. She attended TCU and later married Lester Schmedt in June of 1950. She was owner of the Mathis Sears Catalog Sales Store. She was an endowed member of the Mathis Chapter 874 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Alice Chapter 61 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Daughters of the Nile Elidad Temple No. 134 Corpus Christi and Past Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband in October of 1989.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Tana) Schmedt of Cypress; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were entrusted to Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.
