In her recent letter to the editor, Ms. Kathy Johnson did not mention several facts pertinent to the selection of a law firm at the last Goliad City Council meeting.
I would like to call attention to actions of the present City Attorney voiced by Councilwoman Liz Holsey and reported in the Goliad Advance-Guard on April 26 of this year.
In an illegal executive session, presided by the then Mayor Pro Tem, the City Attorney played a bully in a threatening verbal attack on Councilwoman Holsey. Although the City Attorney said he didn’t agree with 100% of Ms. Holsey’s statements, he did not say what he disagreed with.
It is also my understanding that he did not see to it that a recording was made of the proceedings.
For this reason, alone, I can see why City Council would want to have a law firm experienced in municipal law available for a second opinion.
