GOLIAD – A YouTube video by “Brave Dave’s Cyber Militia” stated last week that Goliad County is being used as a staging ground for militia groups to assist in securing South Texas against the recent increase in illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The video, which is titled “Out-of-state militia staging near Goliad, TX to secure illegal alien border crossing,” was posted July 9 on YouTube and then later restricted only to private viewing.

The video opens with a photo of the Goliad County Courthouse as “Brave Dave” Acton, who regularly produces online video updates on the immigration crisis, speaks about the history of Goliad.

When contacted Thursday, Goliad County Sheriff’s Office officials said they had not received any information of militia coming to the county.

Efforts by The Advance-Guard to contact Acton were unsuccessful.

Also last week, a story circulated in social media claiming the small town of Sarita in Kenedy County had been overtaken by “La Raza” illegal immigrant activists. The bogus report was published on National Report, a satire website.
