Ms. Goodman was born in Mathis to Librada and Agapito Lopez on Nov. 11, 1942. She moved to Abilene in 1961 and embarked on her medical career at Hendrick in 1963. She received her 1976 certification by the National Assoc. of Surgical Technologies as a scrub tech and helped pioneer a procedure known as biliary anastomosis by stenting. She retired in 2001.
She loved fishing, buying and restoring dolls and making floral arrangements. She was a Catholic and a member of the National Surgical Technologists.
Survivors include three children, Gracie, Rachel and Jimmy; six siblings; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park.
