WOODSBORO – Lee Nell Boenig, 84, died Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Mrs. Boenig was born to Alfred and Ora Voges on Nov. 10, 1929, in Bonnie View, outside of Woodsboro.

She was a farmer’s wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Texas Lutheran in 1953 and taught elementary school before starting a family.

She was an active member of Faith United Church in Woodsboro, taught Sunday school for 60 years and volunteered in the community through numerous organizations.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Durwood Boenig; two sons, Glen (Billie Ann) Boenig and Dan (Courtney) Boenig, both of Woodsboro; a daughter, JoAnn (Walt) Franke, of Woodsboro; and six grandchildren, Sara, Leah, Alfred, Davis, Preston and Violet.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, at Faith United Church, Woodsboro.

Burial followed at LaRosa Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wesley Whitwell, Steven Whitwell, Blaine Brietzke, Brice Brietzke, Alfred Franke and Willie Haertig.
