We are continuing to honor our military soldiers by publishing pictures of the statues placed at the Veterans Memorial Gardens. We are very proud of this accomplishment.
Our organization is planning many home and garden activities for the 2014-2015 year. We will have excellent speakers for our meetings namely: Karen Cooper from Coopers Garden Nursery, a United States Marine will speak about Toys for Tots, Otto Kaiser Hospital administrator, David Lee, and Karnes County Agri Extension agent, Jerod Alewine. We also have planned many social activities for our members to enjoy.
We are still taking orders for memorials for your relatives and close friends for our Women’s Texas Star Memorial and the Veterans Memorial Garden. These names will be carve in writing for those honored. The price is affordable. You can either give a donation or speak with our members in charge for an agreed amount. Please call either Johnie Hall, 830-780-3842 or Marlene Smith, 830-780-2635, if you wish to discuss this wonderful historical tribute for your loved one.
A garden tip: For bulb protection, cut bulb plants to ground level in the fall and cover them with an old oilcloth cut to size. Cover al with wood shavings and compost to keep them dry and come spring remove the tablecloth piece and safely store it for the next season.
