Why support a Habitat fundraiser?

Faith Lutheran is co-sponsoring with the Habitat for Humanity of Bee County our Second Annual Barbecue Chicken Dinner Fundraiser on Sept. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 E. FM 351, here in Beeville. For $7.50 per person, we will give you a one-half chicken dinner with sides of beans, potato salad and the trimmings. We are hoping that the community will support this endeavor very well and that you will buy your tickets in advance for drive-thru or dine-in enjoyment.

So, why support us?

Habitat for Humanity International provides homes to persons who qualify as a way of “giving a helping hand up” into home ownership. The family who qualifies for a new build, or home repair is required by Habitat standards to put in “sweat equity” and make loan payments, but there is 0% interest on the loan. Our Bee County Affiliate is still in its infancy, and we are building a fund to do the first build, hopefully to a qualifying family in 2015. But first we need a family selected from eligible Bee County residents and we need to raise enough money for the build. We are looking for ways to make the home as affordable as possible.

Your attendance at the fundraiser or your donations to Bee County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 4333, Beeville, 78104-4333 are needed at this time to make 2015 a reality. Many of the churches in our community have board members who have tickets or you may call 362-3443 for tickets. Of course, there will be a limited number of plates available beyond the pre-sale tickets, but pre-sales give us a good estimate of how many our barbecue team led by Fred Schauer and members of the men’s group at Faith will prepare.
