This past weekend, the Floresville Christian Fellowship Church blessed Runge students with a wonderful afternoon of fun, food, school supplies and haircuts. The VFW was absolutely jumping with kids playing games and patiently waiting in lines for food, snow cones, haircuts and backpacks. After all the major festivities were over the hair dressers still had a long line of kids waiting to have their hair beautified for the first day of school. It was a huge success and The Runge Chamber of Commerce cannot thank Floresville Christian Fellowship enough for caring and sharing blessings with our community and youth. There are so many people to thank for prayers, food, wonderful hair dressers, school supplies and games. Thanks so much. Also, an extra special thanks goes to Monica Alvear of Pioneer Natural Resources for face painting all the good looking kids. They looked fantastic.
In addition, this past week was the end of the Runge Public Library reading contest. Four teams of 11 competed against Asst. Librarian Peggy to see who could read the most pages during a two week period. Incredible attendance at the awards program with over 32 people attending. Special thanks to all who read and made Miss Peggy read through the night to try to win this year. Thanks also the Coastal Bend College for gifts for the winning team and the library for all their work and dedication to reading.
School is back in session and everyone is excited and ready for the year. Only nine more months till summer. Runge is ready…for anything.
We are excited to have Gisler Bros., Vernon Company, First Baptist Church, Schryver Enterprises, Darrel and Linda Martin and Jay Streeter renewing their memberships this year. Our chamber if growing and making things happen. If you would like to join the Runge Chamber of Commerce, please call 830-200-8927 for more information. Until next week, be a blessing.
