Graduating Three Rivers senior Garret Luthringer received this year’s $500 Montgomery Family Memorial Leadership Scholarship. This award is in memory of Jack Montgomery, who was a former mayor of Three Rivers and a great civic leader; Lillian Montgomery, who taught elementary school in the Three Rivers school district for many years; Dr. Bob Montgomery, who graduated from TRHS and went on to become a college professor and educator; and in memory of grandson, Mark Montgomery, who was also a leader during his high school years.

Garret plans to attend college at Texas A&M University in College Station and major in Biomedical Science. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, his goal is to pursue a degree in the medical field to become an anesthesiologist. Garret has a four-year average of 99.564 and an ACT score of 22. Garret has received many accomplishments during his four years of high school. Among his achievements were “A” Honor Roll,

Principal’s Award, Academic Excellence Award, excelled in all sports, UIL participant, class officer, National Honor Society, outstanding FCCLA student, and was elected to first team all state academic football team. His NHS activities included recognizing local veterans and participating in other Veteran’s Day activities.

Garret is the son of Clay and Suzanne Luthringer. Garret attends Our Savior Lutheran Church where he has been secretary of youth groups and has also helped the elderly with food and yard work.
