Texas Today – Texas Tomorrow has been announced as the theme for the upcoming George West Chamber of Commerce annual banquet. Mark your calendars now for Tuesday, June 23 at 7 p.m. at the high school cafetorium. This don’t-miss summer event will feature keynote speaker, David Dunham, Publisher, Texas Monthly, Development.

David joined the magazine in 1979 “upon graduation from kindergarten,” as he would say. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English, Mr. Dunham previously worked for Rives, Dyke, Young and Rubicam Advertising in his hometown of Houston. Dunham is a past president of the board of directors of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, and immediate past chairman of the board of directors of the Texas Travel Industry Association, for which he has also served as treasurer and currently serves as Legislative Affairs Committee chair. A 1991 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the City of Austin, he was honored by the Texas Travel Industry Association in 2005 with its Tall in Texas Award.

In addition to our great speaker, we will enjoy a delicious meal, elect a new board of directors, brag a little on our past years’ accomplishments and honor some lucky recipients with our annual awards. Tickets are now on sale through the chamber office or any board member. Individual tickets are only $15 and VIP tables are $150. VIP tables will seat 10 and come with extra perks like signage on your table, recognition in the programs, etc. What a great way to reward your employees or special customers by inviting them to sit at a special table! Tickets are sure to sell quickly – call 449-2033 to purchase yours’ today.
