Beeville ISD voters approved a $12 million bond sale last year to finance campus improvements districtwide.

Starting this week, they’ll get to see how their tax dollars are being spent.

Contractors are scheduled to fan out across the district and begin construction projects at local campuses.

Work on the campuses has been underway for quite some time but those projects have not been very visible. This month contractors will begin working on projects that are more visible, such as remodeling entryways at some of the campuses and replacing rooftop air conditioning units.

“The district continues to value the importance of effective communication with our taxpayers as they trust us to be good stewards of the dollars spent on the facilities projects that were approved in a bond election,” BISD Superintendent Dr. John Hardwick said. “Some of the more visible projects at our three elementary schools and Moreno Middle School will be accelerated over the summer months. Our school board receives a monthly progress report on the status of projects and how we are doing with the available funds. To date all projects are on schedule and at or under budget.”

The projects at each campus are scheduled to be completed by August 2010.
