The Beeville Trojans are entering a new era under new head coach and athletic director Troy Moses. The Trojans will face a tough schedule and the magazine’s prognosticators have the Beeville boys finishing in third place in the District 30-4A race.
The top spot goes to the Wildcats of Gregory-Portland. The Port Lavaca Sandcrabs are tabbed to finish in the runner-up slot. Corpus Christi Ray takes the fourth spot and the final postseason playoff berth, according to the magazine.
Rockport-Fulton, Miller and Moody finish out the district rankings.
The Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats will battle for a playoff spot but the District 30-2A title should go to the perennial powerhouse, and state-ranked, Refugio again this fall. The magazine has the RHS Bobcats advancing all the way to the state semifinals before losing to Daingerfield.
The second spot in District 30-2A appears to go to the Banquete Bulldogs while the third and final playoff spot has the Odem Owls seeking a bi-district win in November.
Skidmore-Tynan is picked fourth and is followed by Taft and Bloomington, according to the magazine.
The Pettus Eagles are in a tough district with the state-ranked Falls City Beavers the choice to capture another District 31-1A crown. The Yorktown Wildcats are the magazine’s second place pick with the young Pettus squad earning a postseason spot in third.
Woodsboro, Charlotte and Runge round out the district squads in order of predicted finish.
These are just predictions and in football anything can happen. Injuries, numbers and the emergence of a young unknown into a starter’s role should make the upcoming season as interesting as ever.
One thing is for certain, though. With this magazine’s arrival, high school football is just around the corner.
