However, the city council gave the county attorney, Deb Bauer, the authority to negotiate a contract with a certified public accountant to conduct an audit of court records two weeks ago. The city will hold off hiring an employee to fill the municipal court clerk position until the additional audit is completed.
Apologizing for a delay in presenting the audit, Goldman gave a glowing summary of the town’s accounts.
“Y’all spend a good amount of money on streets and that’s good,” he said.
He also commended the council for the accuracy of its budget. Expenditures for the year closely matched what the town had anticipated.
“The budget comes in pretty darn close,” he said.
Goldman’s only criticism came as a warning to keep tabs on cash purchases and “watch a little closer” on purchases at parts stores, H-E-B, and other stores like Sam’s.
“We talked about (the findings),” he said.
