Simon Michael Art Gallery at Coastal Bend College will open with the first show of the year at the Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition. An opening reception will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon. Artists will be on hand to discuss their pieces. All work, including paintings, sculptures and glass pieces, is available for purchase.

Gallery Talk, an opportunity to discuss art with the exhibitors, will take place in the same location at 1:30 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity for fledgling artists to hear from those with more experience and meet their instructors outside of the classroom.

The show was originally scheduled to open on Sept. 11, but did not as a result of Hurricane Ike.

All CBC gallery events are open to the public. The next gallery opening is Oct. 16 featuring the work of Alex Kibler, Shirley Kibler and Norman Wallace in “Bronze, Porcelain and Photography.”
