Leroy Edwin Pargmann, 77, of Pettus died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
He was born in Nordheim to Willie and Mary Leister Pargmann on Sept. 17, 1930. He married Verna Mae Stuart on Aug. 24, 1950, in Cuero. He was retired from Mobil Oil Co. in 1989 and was director of Pettus Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of First Christian Church in Pettus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Willie Pargmann; and two brothers, Herbert and Otto Pargmann.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Mae Pargmann of Pettus; one daughter, Karen (James) Siddon of Beeville; two sons, Roy (Cherry) Pargmann and Bobby (Penny) Pargmann, both of Pettus; one sister, Evelyn Walters of Pettus; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at First Christian Church in Pettus with Rev. Leona Corkill and Rev. Herb Polinar officiating. Interment followed at Nordheim Cemetery in Nordheim.
Pallbearers were Tracey and Kimberly Siddon, Dustin, Colton and Casey Pargmann, Louis Malaer, P.D. Coffin and Josh Perkins. Honorary pallbearers were Dave Kenefake, Roy Corkill, Dr. James Chandler and Jim Fox.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to First Christian Church in Pettus.
Arrangements were entrusted to Eckols Funeral Home Inc. in Kenedy.
Mrs. Simmons
Hazel Pauline Simmons, 64, of Montgomery and formerly of Corpus Christi, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.
She was born on June 7, 1943, in Modesto, Calif., to Julia Mae Elliott and George Tate. She was a substance abuse counselor for Charlie’s Place in Corpus Christi, a personal counselor and freelance photographer. She was a member of AA (14 years sobriety).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Simmons.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Roch of Montgomery, Richard (Ester) Roch Jr. of Orange, John (Jenny) Roch of Vidor and David Roch of Corpus Christi; one brother, Charles (Prissy) Tate of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Dorothy McNally of Corpus Christi and Jeanette Bennifield of Donovan, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery, with services immediately following.
