Mr. Gonzales

Guadalupe S. Gonzales, 84, of Skidmore, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1923, in Clareville to Maria Solis and Agapito Gonzales. He married Guadalupe Hernandez in Bee County in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army, was a veteran of World War II and was a farmer. He was also a member of Iglesia Apostolica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agapito and Maria Gonzales; his wife; one son, Eladio Gomez; and three sisters, Candelaria Ortiz, Delina Gonzalez and Manuela Munoz.

Survivors include two sons, Juventino Gomez and wife Graciela of Dallas and Pastor Fernando H. Gonzales and wife Norma of Skidmore; six grandchildren, Ramona Graham, Dr. Alan Eladio Gomez, Burton Tyler, EO2 Eladio Gomez, Brandon Gomez and Abigail Gomez; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Valentina Cano of Beeville; and two brothers, Pablo Gonzales Sr. and Agapito Gonzales Jr., both of Skidmore.

Visitation was to be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home, with a prayer service to be held there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at Angelus Funeral Home, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Mrs. Guerrero

Funeral services are pending at Angelus Funeral Home for Teodora “Dora” Guerrero. Mrs. Guerrero, 86, of Beeville, died on Thursday, Jan. 10.

Mr. Powers

Jack Powers, Jr., of Midland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.

He was born May 24, 1921in Hope, New Mexico to Jack and Agnes Powers. He went on to graduate from Corpus Christi High School and attend Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi, Texas. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp early in World War II. After completion of navigation and bombardier training he was stationed in India and Tinin Island with the 44th Bomber Group flying missions over India, China and Japan. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross.

At the completion of the war, he enrolled in The University of Arkansas Law School on the GI Bill. There he met and married Patricia Kennett on faculty with the Music Department. After graduation from law school he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas with Stewart Title Company and later entered the oil and gas industry with Texaco advancing to the position of

District Land Manager. He moved to Beeville, Texas in the early 70s with the Dan A Hughes Company. His primary work was Manager of the Land and Legal Department with activity

in the lower 48 states and Australia.

He and Patricia resided in Beeville for 27 years where he was active in St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Coastal Bend Landsman’s Association, Rotary Club of Beeville and the Democratic

Party. After his retirement from Dan A Hughes, he served as Democratic County Chairman and for 6 years served as Municipal Judge of Beeville. In 1999 he and Patricia moved to Midland, Texas and, until his health prevented, continued activity with Rotary.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Powers of Midland, Texas; son, Brian K. Powers of Midland,

Texas; grand children, Sawyer D. Powers of Fort Worth, Texas and Brett K. Powers of Austin, Texas; nephews, Robin Stuart of Lancaster, California and Granville Ott of Austin, Texas; great nephews Donald Stuart of Houston, Texas and Daniel Stuart of Kingston, Arkansas; great niece Cynthia Ott and great nephew Christopher Ott both of Dallas, Texas; and cousin Peggy McCrary of Odessa, Texas.

Private services were held Monday, January 7, 2008. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas 79701 (432) 683-5555. Mrs. Stewart

Viola White Stewart, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.

She was a longtime resident of Beeville prior to moving to Portland, Tx. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beeville where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She was also past president of WMU Organization.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Elayne) Stewart of Portland, Tx. She was a beloved “Nunie” to her grandchildren, Wayne (Marla) Stewart, Karen (Henry) Hufham and Amy (Matt) Dotin and seven great grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, P.E. (Buster) Stewart, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Tx.
