Beeville Pop Warner board meeting

A board meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Nifty Fifties Club.

The following positions are still open for the 2008-09 year: vice president, fundraiser coordinator, public relations officer and safety officer. Elections for these positions will be held during the meeting. Payments can also be made for football or cheerleading at this time.

Soccer club registration kicks off

The Beeville Soccer Club has started registration for the fall season. Forms can be picked up and returned to Schulz & Wroten Pharmacy until Aug. 16.

Registration for children age 4-9 with birth dates between July 31, 2004, and Aug. 1, 1998, costs $40. For children 10-18 with birth dates from Aug. 1, 1990, to July 31, 1998, the registration fee is $50. Players in Division II soccer have a registration fee of $60. Fees include shirt, shorts and socks. The first game is scheduled for September and the last game is slated for November.

Hunter safety course

A hunter safety course will be offered on Saturday and Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church activities center. Times on Saturday will be from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and then 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Attendees will be responsible for their own lunch on Saturday. Cost is $15 per person. Bring a high-liter to help with taking notes.

JHS athletic physicals

Athletes at A.C. Jones High School entering the seventh, ninth and 11th grades must get a physical this year. Athletes entering the eighth, 10th and 12th grades do not need a new physical unless they did not have one last year or if they answer yes to selected questions on the medical history form that all athletes complete yearly. The medical history form MUST be filled out and signed before going to the doctor. Athletes must be accompanied by their parent. Physicals forms can be picked up at the JHS Athletic Office, high school or at the middle school main office and at the BISD central office.

Trojan football season tickets

The 2008 Trojan football season tickets will go on sale Aug. 11-15 for last year’s season ticket holders. Parents of football players and members of the All Sport Booster Club may purchase tickets from Aug. 18-20. All remaining season tickets will go on sale Aug. 21. Tickets may be purchased at the BISD Athletic Department located in the high school’s field house from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.. The cost of the season ticket is $30 per seat. Presale regular ticket prices will be the same as last year at student general admission-$3, adult general admission-$5 and reserve seating at $6. All tickets at the gate on game night will be $6.

All other sports at the middle school or at the high school will be $2 for students and $3 for adults.

Men’s summer softball league forming

A men’s slow pitch softball league is now forming. Contact 358-5856 or 358-1213 for more information and to sign-up to play ball.

Benefit coed softball tourney

A benefit softball tournament is scheduled for Aug. 9 to help with the medical expenses of Sammy Abrigo. Any coed team is eligible to play and can register to participate by contacting Michael Willow or Sandra Perez during evening league play, Monday - Thursday, at the softball field in Veterans Memorial Park in Beeville. Deadline to register is Aug. 8.

Coed softball tournament

A coed “Midnight Tourney” is scheduled for Aug. 23. Play will begin at 6 p.m. and the finals will be after midnight. To register your team or for more information, contact 358-4426 or 542-6569.
