Begin

Paul A Begin was born on February 12 1936 in Burlington, VT. He has passed away June 21 2008 in the home of his son that was caring for him through his fight with cancer in California. He has resided the last 30+ years in Beeville, TX.

He retired from the US Navy after 24 years of active service as a Chief Petty Officer and 6 years in the reserves. He also retired after 20 years at the Beeville Post Office.

He was very active during his retirement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the VFW Commander of Post 9170 from 82-90, District 6 commander 89-90 and All State 89-90. He was also District Adjutant and Provost Marshal for the Cooties of Pup Tent Five. His active participation in the community and VFW will be deeply missed.

He was preceded by death in 2000 wife of 26 years Carol Begin. And also preceded by death of his parents Paul and Marjorie Begin and sister Marie Begin.

He is survived by three sons; Paul Begin Jr. and wife Tina of Hanford CA., Mike Begin of Shafter CA., and David Begin and wife Kim of Madera CA. He is also survived by his two sisters, Doris LeFebvre husband Roland of Burlington,VT., Janet Mayette and husband William of Burlington VT., and his brother Mark Begin and wife Sandi of Rutland,VT.

He was loved by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Paul loved his extended family at the VFW and The Bowling Alley of Beeville Texas.

A viewing on Sunday June 29, 2008, from 7pm-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday June 30, 2008, at 10:00 am. The graveside service will follow at Glenwood Cemetery 706 Newhall, Beeville TX. All service arrangement under the care of Galloway & Sons Funeral Home 409 N. Tyler St. Beeville, TX 78104 (361-358-2512).

Mrs. Contreras

Remigia Kela "Mickey" Contreras, age 61, died, Monday, June 23, 2008, in a Corpus Christi Hospital after an illness.

Born in Beeville, Texas, she was a resident of Alice and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Rebecca Olivarez Kela; her husband, Manuel Contreras; and a sister, Estella Caudillo.

She is survived by five sons, Alvaro, Ricardo and Javier Garza, all of Alice, Texas, Manuel Garza of San Antonio, Texas and Juan Salinas of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Rose Canella of Fullbrook, California and Erlinda Cantu of Alice, Texas; two brothers, Juan Kela of San Antonio, Texas and Pablo Kela Jr. of Beeville, Texas; three sisters, Paula Quintanilla and Juana Asher of Pearland, Texas, and Alice Garcia of Alice, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Walker-Mora Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, followed by cremation.

Arrangements were under the direction of Walker-Mora Funeral Home of Alice.

Mr. Reese

Marion Richard Reese, 65, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2008.

He was born Dec. 13, 1942, in Beeville. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post #363. He was a welder.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Reese; his mother, Alma Ann Coley; and one brother, Ray Coley.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Reese of Rockport; son, Wade (Angela) Reese of Rockport; stepson, Scott Galligan and stepdaughter, Ann Marie Brown, both of La Porte, Ind.; three brothers, Walter Reese of Keystone, Fla., and Roy Coley and Harold Reese, both of Beeville; grandchildren, Charity and Brandon Richard Reese; and step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jacob Brown.

Viewing and visitation was held from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. Funeral services will be conducted there at 10 a.m. today (Saturday). Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Rockport/Fulton.

Mrs. Vaughan

Mrs. Mary Ellen (Rusty) McKinney Vaughan, 91, of Beeville, died on Thursday, June 26, 2008.

She was born in Beeville to Harriet Elizabeth Von Dohlen and Loy Getzweller New on Nov. 6, 1916. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She married Robert Harold (Prete) McKinney on Dec. 10, 1938, in Beeville and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1973. She married Rev. Robert (Bob) Vaughan on Nov. 17, 1975, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Doug) Storment of San Antonio and Aleene (Lindsey) Green of Pettus; one son, Jeff (Lisa) Vaughan of Hutto; six grandchildren, Scott Storment, Holly Drain, Carrie Morin, Kirk Green, Melody McLean and Cody Vaughan; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was to be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today (Saturday) at First United Methodist Church in Beeville with Rev. Bill Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or South Texas Children’s Home.
