Mr. Bernal

Faustino Bernal Jr., 60, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Beeville.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1948, in Zapata to Lucia and Faustino Bernal Sr. He retired from Western Geophysical after 25 years of service and was a Vietnam veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Genoveva “Beva” Hernandez; two daughters, Lucy (George) Benavidez and Imelda Bernal; one son, Faustino (Olivia) Bernal III; three stepdaughters, JoAnn (Jesse) Gonzales, Maggie (Ray) Martinez, and June (Tony) Flores; one stepson, Joe Anthony Hernandez; his ex-wife, Elva Bernal; two brothers, Steve (Genoveva) Bernal and George (Hazel) Bernal; one sister, Laura Collins; and six grandchildren.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Beeville Memorial Park with full military honors.

Pallbearers were Scott Collins, Joe Anthony Hernandez, Melisio Garcia, Balde Gonzales, Tommy Trevino and Joseph Bernal. Honorary pallbearers were Faustino Bernal III and George Benavides.

Delia Camargo, 77, of Beeville died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1931, in Beeville to Merced Armijo and Matias Riojas. She was a Catholic and a housekeeper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Juliana A. Rodriguez; two brothers, Sylvestre Lemon and Faustino Armijo Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Adolfo Camargo of Beeville; one sister, Mercedes Gomez of Beeville; one brother, Freddy Armijo of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Interment followed St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Anita Tapia DeRusse, 83, of Beeville died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1924, in Beeville to Alcario and Eulalia Sanchez Tapia. On Dec. 21, 1941, she married Jesus R. DeRusse Sr. in Beeville. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Joe Henry DeRusse.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse T. DeRusse Jr. and wife Julie Earnest DeRusse of Beeville and Eddie De Russe and wife Yolanda of Austin; one daughter, Mary Ann Silva and husband Joe of El Paso; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one stepbrother, Tomas Gonzales of Westminster, Calif.; one sister, Paula Ramirez of Beeville; and two stepsisters, Aracelia Loehr and Rachel Canas, both of Beeville.

Visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment followed at Evangelico Cemetery.

Ruby Lucille Elliott, 81, of Beeville died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ with Mr. Joshua Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Gonzales

Jose H. Gonzales, 87, of George West died on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, in Beeville.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1921, in Atascosa to Frank Gonzales and Julia Huerta. He retired from the railroad after 36 years of service. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Savina Sosa of George West; four daughters, Mary Arriaga of Sinton, Leonor Perez and Mary Cantu, both of Victoria and Olivia Longoria of Bay City; three sons, Joe C. Gonzales of Houston, Augustin Barrios of Edna and Victor Barrios Jr. of Victoria; one brother, Santos Gonzales of Luling; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation began at 5 p.m. Tuesday at St. George Catholic Church in George West, with a rosary recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held there at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday). Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery in George West with full military honors.

Bessie Lee Harris, 97, died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.

Visitation will be held at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Hatcher

Scotty Ray Hatcher, 59, of Houston and formerly of Beeville, died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008.

He was born to Anna Belle Ford and Carl Hatcher on Sept., 8, 1948, in Beeville. He married Joyce Beaty in Houston on Oct. 10, 1985. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW in Beeville. He was employed as manager of Uvalde Carwash in Houston and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Annette Summerfield.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hatcher of Houston; five sons, Rodney Hutchinson and wife Shelly of Woodstock, Va., Terry, Keith and Kenny Ebarb, all of Houston, and Rex Ebarb and wife Amy of Pineland; one daughter, Stacie Hatcher of Houston; one brother, Kenneth Hatcher and wife Mary of Corpus Christi; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Cemetery, followed by services and interment. Special music will be “Amazing Grace,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” and “On Eagles Wings.”

Mr. Lindholm

Bart Wayne Lindholm, 49, of Austin died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1958, in Beeville to James O. and Joyce Williams Lindholm. He graduated from George West ISD and earned his associates degree in business at Southwest Texas State University. He was employed as senior estimator for highway technology and was a member of St. George Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing his original music with his sons, and enjoyed sailing. He was very involved with his children’s sports.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Williams Lindholm.

He is survived by two sons, Taylor Anthony Lindholm and Jordan Alexander Lindholm, both of Austin; his father, James O. Lindholm of George West; one brother, Guy Eddie Lindholm of Pflugerville; one sister, Mary Margaret Whitaker of George West; and one half-sister, Lisa Ellen Lindholm of Louisiana.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 this evening at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 11 a.m. Thursday with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Barbara Bednorz will provide organ music. A private burial will be held at Gussettville Cemetery in the Gussettville community at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Williams, Tommy Williams, David Williams, Mitchell Williams, Willie Smith and Randy Maupin. Honorary pallbearer will be Cory Bednorz.
