Mrs. Combs

Mrs. “Momma” Shirley K. Combs, 69, of Beeville, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

She was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on July 10, 1938, to De Verl and Audrey Smith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, cooking and country music. She was a retired chef at the Hilton Hotel and a devoted Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Combs, on Jan. 14, 1995; and her parents.

She is survived by two daughters, Terri (Norman) Espy of Mathis and Christina (Brian) Hart of Beeville; one brother, John Smith of Mishawaka, Ind.; one sister, Shirley Joyner of South Bend, Ind.; and seven grandchildren, Michael Burch, James Gardere, Joshua Espy, Christopher Hanes, Brittanny Hanes, Ashley Hart and Brianna Hart.

Visitation was to be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Decatur at 3 p.m. Special music will be provided by her granddaughter.
