Washington, DC – Congressman Hinojosa (D-Mercedes) recently voted to create new jobs and boost the economy by supporting small business innovation in research and technology.

The Small Business Research and Innovation Act is part of a long-term economic blueprint to spur job creation by encouraging America’s entrepreneurs to innovate toward breakthrough technological advancements.

The bill modernizes the government’s largest small business research and development programs, the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program, more than doubling the amount of the grants small businesses can apply for and helping them engage in cutting-edge research.

What this means for Bee County and South Texas is that we will pay for more Nail Polish Parlors, Beauty Shops, Flower / Gift Shops, and Breakfast Taco stands. Lessors will collect about 4 months rent (if they're lucky), a few vendors will collect a few months' payments and then the ill-conceived and poorly managed "Small Business" will default on their leases and payments and the Govenment and thus the taxpers will again be "hosed." The net result is Hinojosa bought a few more votes.
