We seldom have an outside speaker in September as the month is reserved to discuss the new membership booklet. Trish Arink and Dottie Meyer had prepared the booklet this year and Trish went over it page by page with the members.
Committee members were named with the only changes being that Chole Trevino will head the Bazaar Committee and the Craft Supplies Committee. Linda Black will take over the Hospitality Committee. All other officers will remain the same. Once again, Connie Rearden will handle the distribution of raffle tickets.
The Craft Bazaar is scheduled for Nov. 8th this year. Raffle tickets are ready and the posters will be ready soon. Raffle items: First place is a beautiful quilt which includes 12 squares displaying embroidered birds. Linda Black did the embroidery work. Chole with Diana Vasquez took the lead in putting the quilt together. For Second place we have a large chest hand-crafted by our president, Beth Rodgers. Third place is a mesquite rocker donated by Elizabeth Ellis. Fourth is a hand-crocheted tablecloth made by Trish; fifth is an afghan crocheted by Linda.
Club membership is up to 24 active, 12 associate and five honorary members. Consequently, with all the side dishes brought for the luncheon we had plenty of food to share with each other. It feels good to get the meetings started again – and, this month the drawing was won by Sally Bounds – it was a very unusual and attractive vase.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14th and the speaker will be Mr. Richard Galloway with Edward Jones on the subject of financing your retirement. This meeting will be open to the spouses and if you would like to join the club this would be an excellent time to come over – Lagarto Schoolhouse at 11 a.m.
