The effort to collect items for the shelter was spurred following a call from the Bee County Sheriff’s Office informing Mercy Flynn that the Women’s Shelter was in desperate need of items. She contacted Associates who without hesitation answered the call for assistance and within three days had collected several large boxes for the shelter.
Marty Kimbrell-Martinez, RN, organized the effort among the med-surg staff. The boxes were delivered to the shelter by Kimbrell-Martinez and Belinda Huwe, RN, and graciously received and accepted by Lilly Elizondo, the battered women’s advocate.
