Focusing on the rural triangle formed by the metro areas of San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Victoria, the trail’s primary mission is to bring visitors to the area, thereby enhancing the economy and spotlighting the unique local history.
Each of the seven counties currently participating in the trail now have representatives who will be invited to meet at least quarterly with the officers of the South Texas Back Through Time Historical Association, which conducts the annual trail event. Representatives by county are: DeWitt, Kerry Rhotenberry; Goliad, Erika Bochat; Refugio, Bart Wales; San Patricio, David Smith; Bee, Teresa Holland; Karnes, Saundra Schultz; and Wilson, Elaine Stephens. This outstanding group will serve as point persons for their county and will address the following activities:
1. Serve as the major contact for their designated county. The representative could already be a member of the local historic commission or be willing to visit that group and serve to keep the commission informed on trail activity. The representative will also invite local historic commission to fund (participation fee remains $50) a section in the trail brochure to publicize their county’s upcoming history events and activities for the year (2009).
2. The representative will serve as the marketing and public relations person for their county to include producing news releases and public service announcements designed to attract new participants while encouraging current participants to remain on board. Great appreciation is expressed to each representative!
The brochure will be available early next year featuring each county’s history related events and ads of participating businesses, museums and libraries which will also include any special activities they have scheduled for the year.
