Editor:
I believe the decision finally reached by the city council on suspension of Chief Brock was the correct one as everyone deserves his day in court before being treated as guilty.
I was shocked that the city attorney did not stay to direct the council and protect what was said and done in closed session, instead of running off like the job was done. What is the purpose of a closed session?
Innocent until proven guilty is paramount. Just what does the city get for the retainer fee paid the attorney? Is the attorney so busy that the city might not be able to reach the law firm or what? Was there a charge from the attorney for services rendered and how much extra over the retainer did that (executive session) cost the city?
I do not see where the investigation went far enough, I believe there is corruption in the city and the city council cannot see it. Who gave who permission to do what?
Does the mayor and a city council member have the authority to give permission and not be held accountable for that decision? There was an admission here.
What happened to the money that disappeared that an employee was terminated for?
To just let things go on status quo was not the answer after an indictment was issued as per one council person who was discussing with another in open meeting without the floor. Where are the rules of order and why were they not being followed?
All we really needed was Judge Roy Bean to “give the man a fair trial then hang him.”
Well, it is not over until it is over, they say.
