The Lady Cats had their toughest match Tuesday night yet in the district game against the visiting Lady Cats of Skidmore Tynan. A Refugio win looked promising but came up short, 25-20, 25-16 and 25-19.

The Lady Cats looked good at the start leading 12-9 in the first round of game one but an experienced  Skidmore team came back in the second rotation to win the game.

After dropping six straight points at the start of the second game, the Lady Cats started to chip away at the deficit but came up short again.

Game three looked to fair a little better. With an exchange of see-saw scoring, the Lady Cats fought to the bitter end of game three but couldn’t put Skidmore away to force the match into a fourth game.

Leading the Lady Cats in kills was Brittani Wade with 11, while Hailey Brynelsen and Brittaney Gumm had two each; Shelby Bellows added one.

Kristen Wise and Christiana Boyer each had six assists and Alesha Wills and Haley Beck contributed two each.

Brittani Wade had two solo blocks while Michelle Rosas had five digs.

Boyer and Gumm had three aces each while Katie Bernal, Michelle Rosas, and Kristen Wise each had one.
