AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Agriculture announced the annual GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up will run Sept. 28 through Oct. 2. The annual event is designed to promote the use of Texas agricultural products in local restaurants and give patrons a uniquely Texas feel in their dining experience.

“We’re proud to see how chefs across the state are showing off fresh ingredients grown and raised right here in the Lone Star State,” Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples said. “Through the GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up, restaurants and their diners can celebrate the best Texas-grown products while supporting local farmers and ranchers.”

In addition to promoting Texas products, participating restaurants may contribute a portion of their sales to Texas food banks. Among the hundreds of restaurants involved statewide, local establishments in Alice, Beeville and Pleasanton have chosen to take part.

“I invite everyone to show their support for this is a great program that promotes local industries and supports our food banks,” State Rep. Yvonne Gonzalez Toureilles said. “It is important that we as Texans support our communities and lend a hand to those in need, this is our opportunity to do both.”
