Taft defeats the Lady Cats

The visiting Lady Hounds of Taft snatched the match right out of the Lady Cats clutches. The Lady Cats had a great start by defeating the Lady Hounds 25-23 in game one but the Lady Hounds came back and tied the match by taking game two 25-23.

The Lady Cats rebounded and didn’t look back in game three to reclaim the lead 25-18. After dominating for most of game four, the Lady Cats were up 24-19 but just couldn’t seem to get that illusive game point to clinch the win and lost 27-25. The Lady Hounds’ tenacity defeated the Lady Cats 15-10 in game five to take sole possession of third place in the first round of district play.

Brittani Wade lead with 23 kills; Brittaney Gumm, 13; Shelby Bellows, three; Haley Brynelsen, two; and Hailey Beckm one.

Christiana Boyer had 20 assists; Kristen Wise, 10; and Haley Brynelsen added one.

Brittani Wade had two blocks and Brittaney Gumm three digs.

Michelle Rosas lead with seven aces; Kristen Wise, four; Christiana Boyer, two; and Brittaney Gumm, two.

The Lady Cat JV team defeated Taft 25-18 and 25-21. The Lady Cat freshman team dominated Taft 25-9 and 25-8 to finish the first round season undefeated.
