The Lady Trojan sub-varsity volleyball teams entertained their counterparts from Rockport-Fulton on Tuesday night and split the two matches.

The freshman squad won in two straight by the identical scores of 25-10.

Freshman coach Gracy Bryce got several points from Cori Moore and some fine digs on defense from both Taylor Lawson and Krystal Cuellar.

The Lady Trojan service game may have been the deciding factor.

“The girls played great. This is the way we need to play defensively and we got our serves in 90 percent of the time tonight,” said Bryce.

The junior varsity match was also settled in two straight, but the Lady Trojans were on the short end of 25-13 and 25-20 scores in the best of three match.

Kaitlyn Deleon and Ellen Lopez served well, according to JV coach Chuck Youngblood.

“The JV Lady Trojans were unable to overcome numerous service and hitting errors in the first game. The girls played much better in the second game and had opportunities to win, but ultimately came up on the short end of a 25-20 score,” Youngblood said.

The Lady Trojans were off last night (Friday) but will travel to Corpus Christi twice next week. Tuesday night the Beeville girls will challenge the Moody girls and then on Friday of next week, the Lady Trojans will meet the Miller Lady Bucs.
