• Burglary of a vehicle

Officer Bill Schaefer was dispatched to the Dairy Queen parking lot to investigate a burglary of a motor vehicle on Oct. 6.

The couple told the officer that they stopped at the Dairy Queen for about 10 minutes to go to the restroom and get a couple of sodas for about 10 minutes, according to Schaefer’s report.

When they returned to the car, they noticed that someone had tampered with the door lock. They immediately looked in the vehicle to see if anything was taken and discovered that both of their laptop computers were missing.

The laptop was entered into stolen items listing with the state. The investigation is still open.

• Criminal mischief

On Oct. 11, Officer Bill Schaefer was dispatched to a Dunbar Street residence to investigate a complaint that a car had driven through the yard.

The officer discovered that a compact vehicle was driven through the yard and stuck a wire trash can holder. The victim said he heard a noise around 4 a.m. and could hear the driver having problems shifting gears as they came up to the intersection. The officer was able to lift an imprint of the tire treads left in the yard.

• Dog bite

Officer Enrique Diaz was dispatched to the hospital on a report of a possible dog bite on Oct. 10.

According to the report, a five-year-old girl was playing with the family dog when she started screaming. The girl was transported to Refugio Memorial Hospital. Animal Control was called at the family’s requested to put the dog down.
