As had been all season long the Lady Cats had to try and come from behind to continue their playoff quest. After dropping a tough game one 25-18 the Lady Cats seemed deflated and couldn’t get anything going in game two.
The Lady Cobras attacked their way at the heart of the Lady Cats defense to dominate game two 25-7. But, the Lady Cats would not go down that easily. The Lady Cats took this opportunity to pounce on the Cobras in game three.
The Lady Cats jumped out to a 5-0 lead and maintained that lead throughout most of the game. The Lady Cobra’s chipped away at the five point deficit to finally tie the game at 19.
The Lady Cats took the next rally point to lead 20-19 and Katie Bernal added a service ace for the Lady Cats to extend the lead 21-19. Once again the Lady Cobra’s answered back to tie the game at 21.
The Lady Cobra’s playoff experience would prove to be the mitigating factor in this hard fought match. The Lady Cobra’s defeated the Lady Cats 25-21 to end their playoff run.
When asked on her thoughts about the season Coach Hemphill replied “In pre-season a lot of people counted these girls out. But, we believed in ourselves and each other. We competed with pride and honor. Industrial just happened to be the better team tonight. We, the coaching staff, are proud of each one of them and what they have accomplished throughout this season.”
Brittani Wade led the team with 21 kills.Brittney Gumm, eight; Hailey Beck, four; Shelby Bellows, four; Haley Brynelsen, three; Kristen Wise and Christiana Boyer add one each.
Kristen Wise had 25 and Christiana Boyer 10.
Hailey Beck, Brittani Wade, Brittney Gumm all had one block each.
Kristen Wise had five aces; Brittney Gumm four; Christiana Boyer and Michelle Rosas both had three; Katie Bernal and Alexa Monetmayor contributed one each.
