Fourteen life-size soldiers are guarding downtown Beeville this month, getting the city ready for this year’s Christmas season.

The fiberglass nutcrackers are only part of the decoration scheme for this year. And the highlight will be the relighting of the buildings downtown, just like it used to be.

Beeville Main Street Program Manager Michelle Wright said Santa will be coming to downtown Beeville at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, by helicopter.

Then Santa will read “The Night Before Christmas” for the kids at the Joe Barnhart Bee County Library at 4 p.m. before settling down to hear what every child in town wants for Christmas this year.

At 6:30 p.m. that day everyone will want to be downtown for the annual lighted parade.

Floats and vehicles, all sporting Christmas lights, will proceed along North Washington Street to delight all comers.
