Refugio County Opry’s first show of the new year is slated for Jan. 7, 2010, and will feature special guests Jo Marie Prukop of Bishop, Bobby Hinton of Beeville, and Pat Grogan.

“Jo Marie has been on the Opry in the past and does a real good job,” said Neal Haertig, show organizer. “The crowd really enjoys her singing.”

Jay and Opal Monrad, who also organize the show, heard Bobby entertaining at a rest home a while back and invited him to the Opry.

“Pat is a great musician and entertainer,” Haertig said.

Well known in the music business, Pat gives lessons in guitar, banjo, fiddle an other instruments and gives voice lessons.

“You’ll find him at Southern Cross Studios here in Refugio doing his thing,” Haertig said. “We hope everyone will come out and enjoy a night of great entertainment and support our scholarship fund.”

The cost of the show is $5 per person, doors open at 530 p.m. and entertainment begins at 7 p.m.

The food court has a variety of items and desserts to choose from as well as drinks and snacks.

“The Fierova family does a great job of serving you,” Haertig said. “All net proceeds go to the scholarship fund.”
