Wine, art festival showcased in Floresville

The fifth annual Sacred Heart School Wine and Art Festival is being held on Saturday to benefit the only Catholic school in Wilson County.

The event will take place in the Wilson County Show Barn on U.S. 97, just east of Floresville, beginning at 6:30 p.m. A variety of wines, selected especially for the event, will be showcased, including a “Razzle Red Chocolate Port” and an Italian Montepulciano. The selection also includes pinot noir, merlot, a strawberry-white merlot, exotic fruit white zinfandel and pinot grigio.

The meal will be catered by Heart’s Desire Catering Inc. Dinner will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m., followed by a live auction at 8 p.m.

The auction will include works by local artists. Artists featured this year include Linda Calvert Jacobson, Alice Tizman, Monica Flores, OraLee Flores Garza and Michael Ries.

Corporate sponsorship is available and is welcomed. Platinum sponsors of a table for 10 will receive three bottles of wine, individual gifts at each place setting, recognition on the event program, a tabletop display and recognition on the school’s Web site for one year. Other levels of sponsorship are also available.

Tickets are $50 per person. These are available from Sacred Heart School students or from the school office at 1007 Trail St. in Floresville or call 830-393-2117. Tickets are also available from the Wilson County News office at 1012 C St. or by calling 830-216-4519.

Sacred Heart Catholic School has educated children from Floresville and the surrounding area since 1933.
