The George West Longhorns won their second consecutive district game with a 56-40 victory over the Three Rivers Bulldogs last Friday night, Jan. 15.

Joseph Lopez led all scorers with 24 points followed by Ashton Pierce with 12. Ty Jimerson scored seven, Riley Rocha scored six, Albert Gamez scored five, and Derek Cantu scored two.

Previously, the Longhorns travel to Freer on Tuesday night to finish the first round of district play. The Longhorn Varsity Basketball team won their first district game last that night. The Horns beat Cotulla by the score of 85-77. Ashton Pierce led the scoring for GW with 33 points. Derek Cantu and Joseph Lopez had 14 points each, followed by Andrew Sotelo, Albert Gamez, and Ty Jimerson with 8, 7, and 6, respectfully. Michael Fuentes had 2 points and Colton Guerrero had 1 to finish the scoring. It was an extremely hard fought win and the kids really deserved it.
