The county fair is set from March 24 - 27. Pre-entry forms must be returned to the extension office before March 4.
To assist with bookkeeping, exhibitors are encouraged to turn in their forms as soon as possible, and not wait until the last minute. Beginning this year, each exhibitor will be charged an entry fee per exhibitor.
The fees are youth $2 and adults $5. The flat fee will be charged regardless of the number of entries submitted.
The proceeds will be used to pay premiums to youth exhibitors, excluding school and industrial art entries. A late fee of $5 per item will be charged for late entries. The late fee will be used for upkeep of the exhibit building.
Participants are encouraged to review the current rules for the Homemaking Show, due to several rule changes and/or revisions.
A copy of the 2010 RCFA Rulebook may be picked up at the Extension Office.
“All county residents are encouraged to participate in the fair,” said Jerry Gray, extension agent.
The exhibit building rules state that competitive entries will be limited to residents and taxpayers of Refugio County, students (and their parents) enrolled in county schools, or those who work full time in the county. Any other entries will be for display only.
Adults and youth will compete for ribbons, trophies, and the high point award. School art will compete for ribbons.
The divisions in the exhibit building include baked goods, preserved foods, clothing & handwork, quilt, craft, horticulture, art, photography, leather, wood working, and metal art.
