“The team performed well. This was a big meet with 23 teams competing and the student/athletes represented Beeville well,” said JHS coach Alan Burkett.
Dalton Torres secured a second place finish in the 148-pound class with a three-lift total of 1,105 pounds.
Those three lifts include the squat, deadlift and bench press. The combined total weight of the competitor’s highest lift in each event is the “total” that is used for determining the placement of the competitors.
Genaro Trevino placed third in the 181-pound division with a lift total of 1,265 pounds. Lazaro Smith also captured a third place finish with the three-lift total of 1,275 pounds in the 198-pound class. Adam Aleman finished third in his super-heavyweight (SHW) division with a lift total of 1,185 pounds.
Jeremiah Puentes placed sixth at 165 pounds with a total of 1,110 pounds. Weston Carrol was tenth at 198 pounds lifting 900 pounds.
The varsity girls also competed at T-M with some good results. Elizabeth Segovia placed third in the SHW division with a three-lift total of 900 pounds.
Amanda Alvarez was sixth in the 97-pound division with a total of 360 pounds. Danyell Villarreal was 10th at 148 pounds with a total of 465 pounds in the three lifts.
