Our meeting was a short one as our guest speaker was not able to come. We concentrated on old and new business. We discussed the gift bags taken to the Live Oak Nursing Center for Christmas. The gifts were greatly appreciated by the residents. We decided to do something different next year, concentrating on a gift rather than food or candy.
For new business, we discussed having a pest control service do treatment on the building twice a year. Volunteers Chole Trevino, Linda Avila, Jessica Keese, and Connie Rearden will get our building back in order after the Christmas Bazaar. Members discussed the need to purchase some new signs for our entrance to the club building and others to display in different areas to advertise our Fall Bazaar and Spring Rummage sale. We will check into the types of signs to best meet our needs and vote on them at the next meeting. We agreed we would like green lettering for our entrance sign to go with our Lagarto “green alligator” mascot for our club.
The club is planning an outing on Jan. 28 to the Bleu Frog Mercantile. We’ll shop till we drop, then revive with a meal at Hester’s, the tea room at the Mercantile.
Trish and Bill Arink donated a computer to the club for use of the club’s invitations and advertising. A sample was shown of the invitation made for our 40th anniversary. The anniversary event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 20. Jessica Keese read a list of thought and ideas presented by Dottie Meyer. We are really looking forward to that event!
Our next meeting will be Feb. 11th. We would like to invite anyone interested in joining our group to attend.
