The Skidmore-Tynan Lady Cats ended their volleyball season on Saturday night as the Freer Lady Bucks captured three straight from the S-T girls in their area match-up in Orange Grove.
The scores of the three games were identical losses of 25-15 to the Lady Bucks.
The hitting and the hard to handle tough serves from the Lady Bucks were the difference makers. Freer also seemed to have a defender ready to dig a tough S-T hit no matter where on the floor it was hit or tipped.
The Lady Cats’ service game was handled well by the Freer girls. Only four S-T aces fell for points for the Lady Cats. Kathy Mireles hit for three aces and Kathy Acosta got the other one in the best of five match.
The Lady Cats had 10 kills over the three games with Acosta accounting for four with Rachel Mengers and D’Anne Wilder collecting two apiece. Mireles and Jennifer Pueblo each had one kill.
Defensively, the Lady Cats came up with 42 digs in the match. Mireles led the team with 12 and Pueblo had nine. Stephanie Leal contributed eight digs while Samantha Villegas recorded five. Devon Wilder, D’Anne Wilder and Mengers each came up with two digs in the loss. Acosta had one dig from the back line.
The Lady Cats had eight assists over the three games with D’Ann Wilder setting up five points. Mireles, Devon Wilder and Acosta each had one assist. Mengers came up with the lone Lady Cat block in the match.
The S-T girls completed the season at 18-14, with a bi-district championship and a district co-championship under their belts.
