Basketball all registration is now underway for the 2009 Boys and Girls club Spurs Drug Free Youth Basketball League for members 6-12. The season runs from Nov. 10 to Dec. 22.

Club membership fee is $30 per year for anyone between the ages of 6-18. Membership renewal is also due. Volunteer coaches and referees are needed.

The club held a mock election Tuesday, Nov. 4. The club was decorated with red, white and blue streamers and silver stars and posters which read Vote.

After a brief history on the qualifications required to become president, a review of the candidates, and a lesson in the importance of voting, the kids were ready to vote.

The kids were provided with a voting ballet, and a private voters box.

“The kids were full of excitement and thrilled to have an opportunity to vote,” a club spokesperson said.
