The Refugio Police Department is investigating a burglary of two big-screen plasma televisions at Refugio High School.

School personnel reported the missing televisions Monday morning.

The school was being used by the Refugio-based fire training school over the weekend, according to investigators, but that particular classroom was not being used.

“There was no sign of a forced entry,” said Detective Fernando Garcia.

Garcia said the sets were worth several thousand dollars each.

Anyone having any information about this crime is asked to call the police department at 526-4533.

"outsiders" ??? it was Refugio-based fire training school.

Refugio is a very sharing community and it wouldn't be the same otherwise. That might leave us a little more vulnerable at times, but the good outweigh the bad.

I hope we find who did this.

My TAXES is what makes it my concern!! Its all of our business, that is those of us that own homes and land and pay taxes for a the school & its equipment be used for only for the education of our children! Allowing outsiders to use the school facilities for private use is & should be forbidden and these kinds of acts of theft would not occur. Does that answer your question juvenile question anon?

Why is the School being used for activities that are NOT school related. Is there a fee for its use? If there are not school authorities at the school when it is being used by non-school related activities then it should not be available for such activities!
