The Boys & Girls Club invites cooks to gather a team and come on out. There will be entries in four different divisions: pork (wild or domestic), pork spare ribs, brisket and chicken. Registration fees are $30 per entry, with cash prizes for 1st-3rd places in each division. A grand prize of $1000 cash will be given to the grand champion. All teams must be registered and in place by 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, Feb. 13.
This year a delicious home cooked barbecue plate along with all the fixin’s will be served for a $7 donation to the Boys & Girls Club.
In addition to the cook-off competition, the day’s events will include a live auction beginning at 1:30 pm. Last year’s items for bid ranged from weekend fishing trips, deer and dove hunts, an assortment of hunting equipment, camping gear, tools, meals at your favorite restaurants, plus an array of other items with all proceeds going to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Live Oak County.
New events at this year’s cook off include a basketball skills competition open to kids ages 6-12, a large children’s play area, a 50/50 raffle and a gun raffle. Raffle tickets can be obtained in advance from Boys & Girls Club staff and board members and will also be on sale at the cook off.
