Lady Horns win last three district tilts

The stampeding Lady Horns win their last three District 31-2A ball games against Dilley, Cotulla and Three Rivers.

The Dilley game ended with the Lady Horns on top 58-42. Lead scorers were Alyssa Johnston with 24 and Kaylee Brysch had 16. Kayla Krietsch led the rebounds with 11 followed close behind was Brysch with 10. Kim Villafranca had six assists and Johnston had five steals. This win brought the ladies to 9-1 in district play and clinched seats one or two for George West.

Traveling to Cotulla and bringing home another win 47-26 were the George West Lady Horns. Johnston again led the ladies with 22 points, and Brysch led the boards with 10 followed by Villafranca with eight. Krietsch and Brysch had three assists each and Brysch gathered up 10 steals followed by Johnston with eight.

The next and last district ball game of the season was at home against Three Rivers. The half-time score was George West leading 31-25. The third quarter the Lady Horns held the Lady Bulldogs to only two points and when the final buzzer sounded the Lady Horns were on top 66-38 and were District 31-2A District Champs again after five years. Johnston led the scoring with impressive 26 points, Krietsch added 16 and Villafranca had 10. Brysch, Krietsch and Johnston combined for 21 grabs off the boards. Johnston and Brysch each had four steals.

The George West Lady Horns end their regular season with an overall record of 21-4 and district record of 11-1.

The area playoff game will be Friday night in Odem against the Skidmore-Tynan Lady Cats. at 7:30 p.m.
