The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot for the May 8 local elections was Saturday, Feb. 6, and the last day is Monday, March 8, at 5 p.m. for the May 8 local elections.

Refugio

Council seats Alderman three, four and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Ron Nelson, Frank Hosey and Wanda Dukes.

Woodsboro

Council seats places three, four, and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Minerva Cisneros, Jeanette Chandler and Jimmy Blashcke.

Bayside

Mayor and council seats place two, and three are up for election.

Incumbents are Billy P. Fricks, David Vega and Sharon Scott.

Austwell

Mayor and mayor pro-tem are up for election. Incumbents are Mustafa Curteess and Junior Palmer.

RISD

Single-member districts one, three, and five are three-year terms up for election.

Eugene Lewis is currently SMD #1; Jorge Jaso, SMD #3; Ronald Williams, SMD #5. All three board members reside in the single-member districts they represent.

The 20th day for filing under the conditional nonresidency requirement is Feb. 26.

Therefore, conditional nonresidency candidates may file during Feb. 27, through March 8.

The deadline for declaration of write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. Monday, March 15.

Application packets are available in the superintendent’s office.

On election day, the polling place will be the St. James CCD Center for SMD’s #1 and #3, and the Refugio Community Center for SMD #5.

Early voting will be held in the office of the County Elections Administrator. The first day for early voting is Monday, April 26, and the last day is Tuesday, May 4.

WISD

Place six and seven seats are up. Incumbents are Bob Kramer and Marina Garcia.

A-TISD

Place three, four, and five are up for election.

Incumbents are Darren Kelso, Eliz Bernal, and Greg Duenez.

Refugio Hospital District

Incumbents are Sandy Ermis, Art Loya, Glen Naylor and Clifton Pfeil.
